We support walkable, bikeable, accessible cities and affordable housing.

Serving Champaign, Urbana

Updates from the chapter

We had a great #weekwithoutdriving! We walked, bussed, veoed, and biked! While many places close to downtown Champaign had decent sidewalks, further out became less navigable by foot. Many streets had bike lanes, but they were unprotected which made it harder for newer cyclists to feel comfortable. And limited intercity bus options meant that we did have to use a car to go out of town for a confer…

Happy #WeekWithoutDriving! Thanks for coming out to socialize @spouiuc ! We talked about protected bike lanes and rapid transit and more! What else would you change about the transit options in CU? @weekwithoutdriving @nondriversaction @americawalks

Daily Reflection on #WeekWithoutDriving - Have you had to ask anyone for help, a ride, a favor, if you were on the right? How did that feel? @weekwithoutdriving @americawalks @non_drivers

#WeekWithoutDriving means that we can see our community at human scale instead of speeding by in a car! Like seeing the progress on this mural by @funafraid in Downtown Champaign!

About CUrbanism Club

CUrbanism Club started in 2021 to advocate for a variety of housing and transportation choices in Champaign Urbana and to help build connected communities that people could access with or without a car.

How we work

Reform the rules

Back zoning reform and streamlined permitting so more homes are legal to build, especially near transit and jobs.

Educate & engage

Turn out residents to the meetings that matter and make it easy to take a pro-housing position on local projects.

Build partnerships

Work with neighbors, labor, faith groups, and builders toward a shared abundant-housing agenda.
